Visa renewal question

I’m currently on a 1 year contract that ends in September this year, and plan to leave the company after the contract is completed. However, the company has given me documents for visa renewal on the assumption that I am staying on, and I will mention that I’m leaving next month (for 1 month notice).

Is it possible to still use the documents for visa renewal, or would I have to wait for my new company to sponsor the renewal? My current work visa expires the same day my contract ends in September.

  1. Start the renewal process now whilst still employed. Bit of luck you will get it within 2-4 weeks.

If you change jobs during the renewal process it will mean basically having to submit documents twice because immigration will need documents from your new employer

  2. You don’t have to stay employed with them after the visa is renewed. As long as your visa renewal process will be completed before you leave this job and start the new one, you’ll be fine to use your current job’s documents.

  3. I am on same boat. Here is what I am planning to do.

Use current company’s document for visa renewal. Wait while still working at current company.

After I get a a visa, I will submit them retirement notice 1 month to the prior.
