iPhone is out. Thinking of getting one from HK to avoid Japan iPhone’s shutter sound but..

does the Chinese government really have access to the iCloud accounts of iPhones bought in HK?

What are the downside of buying the Hong Kong version?

  1. I thought the shutter sound was region based either by location or sim card info, so any iphone you bought anywhere in the world would have the sound so long as you were using it in Japan.

  2. The shutter sound on my phone is based on location. It turns off automatically when I’m outside Japan.

    So .. be careful

  3. Nothing. I have stopped buying Japanese iPhones for years because the shutter sound is annoying. I’ve used iphones from Australia, Europe, Taiwan in japan and no problem whatsoever
