What should I do on my first week in Okinawa to get an understand of where to live in the longer term?

Hi all

I'm coming to Okinawa for a month or two next week, I was planning on starting in Naha and travelling from there to understand where I might like to be in the longer term. I've read a lot of travel info but I wanted to ask locals as well 🙂 A few questions:

  1. Is Naha a good place to start? I'm realising its kind of a long way to a lot of the nature stuff. Also is there like an 'old city' part? (I can cancel my accomodation at no cost)
  2. Where should I go on my first week to really understand the areas of the island?

Thanks very much
