Going to japan for the first time for 3 weeks in december, mostly city areas and planning to go to a rural area for a week too, whats the atmosphere like in tokyo/kyoto, is there lots of nightlife still?
Yes, Tokyo doesn’t really sleep, well, except New Year’s Day.
But you need to be more specific on Tokyo, as it’s the biggest city on earth. Some part do sleep, some don’t. Kyoto however is not known for its nightlife.
The vibe and basically everything is the same just colder.
