Going away for most of August – anything I need to do to prepare my apartment?

I'm going back to Scotland for most of August to visit friends and family, and I'm wondering if there's anything specific I should do/get for my apartment before I leave? I've never rented my own apartment or been away for so long when living alone before, so I'm trying to work out what I need to do.

I know the basics like making sure I don't leave anything in the fridge, but hailing from a cold and rainy country I'm wondering if there's anything specific I need to do about the summer heat and humidity to protect my stuff as there'll be no ac or air circulating.

Sorry if this is really basic but for example are my clothes and futon going to be at risk of getting mildew or anything like that? I went and bought a bunch of 除湿シート dehumidifying sheet things today and I'm thinking to put a bunch of them in the boxes and suitcases where I'm planning to tidy up my clothes to, and make sure everything hanging on clothes racks has enough space between it? I've also got some sudare and I'm thinking to put them up over the big window so less direct sunlight is coming in (have been meaning to do that anyway. My friend from Singapore told me to make sure everything is really well aired out and dried before I go and he said to leave the extractor fan in the bathroom on, but that thing is and also presumably going to add to my electricity bill while the bathroom is off the kitchen so I feel like it won't help the rest of the apartment much. t's a 1K, bathroom is off the kitchen area. Apartment is a 1K, the building is from the early 90s and mostly wood based construction for context.

Any advice from those who have been in Japan longer or lived in similar climates would be much appreciated 🙂
