塩魚汁 how to read this?


Hello everyone. I'm not learning Japanese but I have an interest in Kanji and Chinese characters. I came across this word 塩魚汁 (shottsuru) which refers to a Japanese fermented fish sauce. I am wondering how this pronunciation came about. I've looked up the individual characters on Wiktionary (, , ), but none of the readings correspond to 'shottsuru'. How would this pronunciation have come about? I would assume that maybe this is an older or regional pronunciation that has stuck?
