Career change to IT; should I move back to Japan for experience or stay in the US and grind?

Context, 27M here. US Citizen by born but grew up in Japan, except I went to an International school from middle school.

Graduated college in Japan with bachelor's in arts/communication and moved to the US for work, becuase why not? Have been working for almost 2 years now as a fresh grad, at a small Japanese company here is LA County as a Sales Rep.

Realized I hate sales and want to switch careers to IT/Softdev or anything related to tech as I have always had a passion for computers and video games in general.

Job market for entry level, or no experience candidates here in the US for IT industry is very, very bad right now.

Not sure if it may be better to get into a no-experience IT company in Japan. I know most of them have literally no work life balance, and the internal system is bad, but I really want to break into IT. My family and partner of 5 years live in Japan as well.

Studying and getting certificates in the IT field here and get an entry level job to grind is an optiontoo, which may be harder to get though.

In the long run, I don't see myself living in the US and will be going back to Japan at some point, but US wages are way more with better work life balance and freedom as a foreigner myself.

Any suggestion helps!
