Hello everyone, Im 19 years old and from The Netherlands. I’m planning to move to Japan for a year, and I’m excited about the opportunity to immerse myself in the culture and learn the language. However, I have several questions and would greatly appreciate any advice or insights from those who have experience living or studying in Japan. Here are some of my main questions:
Politics in Japan: How would you describe the political climate in Japan? Are there any aspects that a newcomer should be particularly aware of?
Student Life for Foreigners: What is it like for a foreign student to attend school and study the language in Japan? Are there any challenges or advantages that I should keep in mind, especially if I consider moving there permanently in the future?
Cultural Norms: What are some cultural differences that I should be aware of? Specifically, what are some things that might be considered normal in other countries but are disrespectful in Japan?
Economics: How is the economic situation in Japan currently? Is it a good environment for finding work and living comfortably?
Job Opportunities: Is it difficult for foreigners to find jobs in Japan? Are there specific industries or job types where non-Japanese speakers might have more success?
Healthcare and Safety: How is the healthcare system in Japan for foreigners? Additionally, is it generally safe for someone from another country to live there?
Any information or personal experiences you could share would be incredibly helpful as I prepare for this exciting journey. Thank you in advance for your help!
