Moving to Chiba and have questions to make the first week easier.

Hi everyone,

Very excited since we will be moving to Japan very soon and I have some questions in mind that will probably look unrelated with one another but I just wanted to make a list of things that I will need to know before I go to make life easier for myself there during the adjustment period.

  1. We will immediately need a sofa and a 50 inch TV. I have been looking at Facebook market and seen that there are some reasonable stuff available from expats, some even with warranty still. How trustworthy is Facebook market over there? The reason I am asking this is is because I have come up with a reasonable amount of posts with photos of stuff taken in containers and the profiles not looking real.

  2. I am from Europe and here the best stick vacuum cleaner (easy to use, great suction, up to 40min running time) is Dyson. I have seen Dyson being sold through Amazon.jp, but I need recommendations as well. What is the best brand for stick vacuum cleaners?

  3. We have been using Aptamil Gold since our baby was born. Our baby has no allegies or food intolerance. Is Aptamil baby formula sold in Japan or are there other brands? Feedback from moms would be highy appreciated!

  4. What is the best place to buy business shoes for men? We normally buy Hush Puppies in UK, but we are open to trying local Japanese brands as long as they are affordable and of high quality.

  5. Which shop has the best deals for small kitchen appliances such as toasters, kettles, vacuums, etc?

  6. Is there an online platform for second hand furniture shopping? (Apart from facebook market)?

Thank you in advance!
