This trip is planned for arriving on the 23rd of January and departing on the 5th of February (I've been to the region before this past winter but moved around so much between hotels that I didn't get to do as much)
Looking for suggestions in a few places and I will be staying in hotels within 2 blocks of each city's shinkansen station. Also I didn't add Geibikei gorge because I honestly don't think I can sit under a kotatsu for 90 minutes but if the gorge itself is still worth seeing without the boat ride, I will do that instead of Kesennuma and Mt. Anba.
Day 1 Arrive at NRT
- Train to Sendai and hotel check in around 21:30
Day 2 Sendai
- Matsushima bay boat and Zuihouden (maybe Aoba) + wandering
Day 3 Sendai
- Train/bus to Iwate Tsunami Memorial Museum
- Kesennuma/Mt. Anba
Day 4 Travel to Akita
- Probably just some wandering this day
Day 5 Akita
- Chill/wandering
Day 6 Akita
- Oga Peninsula sightseeing/Namahage Museum (renting a car)
Day 7 Akita
- Kakunodate and Akita Nairiku Railway
Day 8 Akita
- Lake Tazawa (looking for other suggestions as I've been, but wouldn't mind returning) + wandering
Day 9 Travel to Aomori
- Scenic train ride (Gono line) to get to Aomori so late arrival probably
Day 10 Aomori
- Hirosaki (looking for other suggestions as I've been, but wouldn't mind returning)
Day 11 Aomori
- Aomori city sightseeing/wandering
Day 12 Aomori
- Hakodate day trip
Day 13 Aomori
- Hachinohe (or suggestions, I want to see and wander a very small town just because, I thought about yokohama (aomori) or imabetsu if that gives any ideas)
Day 14 Depart from NRT
- On an early hayabusa to arrive at NRT around 13-14 for a 17:45 flight.
