I’m aware of some of the inhumane things Japan has done in history. however it annoys me sometimes to see random social media posts about Japan that have nothing to do with their history or the atrocities they committed, then seeing comments bringing up those things as a sort of “gotcha!”.
I’m not sure what the purpose of bringing up countries’ war crimes is unless they are current or very recent, I think it just looks to be a way of expressing your hatred for a group of people (who aren’t responsible for those war crimes) and masking it to look like you’re justified in those feelings.
I understand some of the war crimes were relatively recent (1940s) and people may be directly affected or have family that were affected by it, but i find it hard to believe everyone who comments about it is just saying it due to the personal impacts it had on them or their family.
