Domestic helper – Tax & obligations

With a second baby on the way, my wife and I are considering hiring a helper.

Rather than going through an agency I am trying to see if it would be more interesting to hire them directly (contract between them and us).

I would like to know whether there is any employer tax to pay and if there is any complex paperwork or if the employee is responsible to do there taxes themselves.
