Backup if laid off in Japan?

Hi, I recently got a job offer from a Japanese company, got my CoE and Visa. The job is something I enjoy and I intend to put in my full effort while working there.

However, I do worry about what might happen if it doesn't work out. I know Japanese economy is not in the best state right now, and I'm not sure what I would do if I lost the job for whatever reason (be it employee cuts or my own fault). For political reasons, I can't exactly go back to my home country. So, does anyone have any experience in finding a job with another employer after arriving? I know the government doesn't kick you out immediately, but is it reasonable to find another job before they do?
