is it worth it to visit Osaka’s Nakazachico neighborhood for a half day from Kyoto?

I'm staying in Kyoto but going to Nara for a half day to see the deer and thinking of continuing on to Osaka for a half day – essentially to explore a neighborhood and experience the food that I've read is so amazing there, before going back to Kyoto.

I originally had Dotonbori marked as the place to go, but reading more about it, it doesn't seem like it would fit my travel style which is more about finding cool off the beaten path neighborhoods to experience more of how locals live.

I've been reading that Nakazakicho would be the better choice for that experience but is it worth it to come to Osaka to see Nakazachicho?

We'll be in Tokyo, Kyoto and Kanazawa and would only want to go to Osaka for a half day if it's worth it to go out of the way for a cool experience that's different from those other places!
