Hello all,
I want to move to Japan permanently to obviously work and live there. I’m having a lot of trouble to find a job, because most require Japanese, which is understandable. That’s why I’m considering the following:
A. Go to a language school like ISI, so I can learn Japanese while they also help me find a job.
B. Go to an alternative of ISI, if there are better options that will give me a better chance of finding a job.
C. Go to Tokyo University to learn Japanese.
D. Go to Tokyo University to learn Japanese and get another bachelor degree in something that gives me a good chance of landing a job.
Here’s some information about me:
- I’m from the Netherlands.
- 27 years old.
- Japanese level: very, very basic. Almost learned Hiragana.
- Bachelor degree (Cum Laude) in Illustrated & Animated Storytelling (EQF level 6).
- VET Diploma (level 4) in Animation & Audiovisual-Design.
- 2 years of (remote) work experience at an American Indie VR game studio with games released for PSVR, PSVR2 and other headsets.
- Working part time (or less) for my own company creating animations, 3D prints and some other stuff (4 years. 2 while studying, 2 while working at the studio).
- When working I’ve always been more of a “jack of all trades”, instead of being specialized in something specific. I know this is more of a disadvantage.
- I like the management, business and marketing sides of the jobs as well.
- Willing to re-educate myself to do something different if that gives me better chances of finding a job.
- I speak Dutch, English and a bit of German.
- I currently live in NL.
I know that living in the Netherlands might be better on some fronts and the salary is way better there, but that’s not why I made this post. I hope I can get some great advice here on what would be the best next step.
Happy to provide more information.
Thank you in advance!
