“For Japan only” PS5 games

Hello gamers, do you know of this sign at the back of PS5 games means that the game is in Japanese language only (like Elden Ring for example) or that it’s only playable on Japanese PS5 and has other languages options? Thank you.

  1. No region lock, but language should be listed. In the case of Elden Ring it is Japanese only (audio is in English fyi, but you can’t change the text).

  2. I always buy games released in Japan now and they have English. Especially if the game publisher and dev is not from Japan. Before I used to buy imports from US, but weak yen happened.

  3. The “for sale In Japan only” is more of a legal requirement than anything else, and you’ll find it on many products sold here (not just video games). It simply means that your rights as a consumer only go so far as you live in Japan. You cannot take the game outside of the country then complain to support that it didn’t work outside of the country.

Fortunately we are in the days when actual region locks are long gone and you are able to play your Japanese copy of the game on any region PlayStation in any region. The “for japan only” also does not have any significance on the language, but many japan releases only include the Japanese language options, with English if you’re lucky.
