Applying for a lecturer position without a BA

EDIT: I just realized I made a mistake in the title: "without an MA".

There are multple similar posts, but none that fully applies to my situation, so I decided to make a post of my own.

My JET Programme contract is set to expire soon, and I am looking for the next step in my teaching career. I have been looking at some Eikaiwa companies, but the conditions seem very average. I have been eyeing lecturer positions in Universities, but I am not sure if I will be outright refused. I will probably try to apply on the most appealing offers, but wanted to know if I'm just losing my time.

I have a BS in Physics, and a BA in teaching (not TEFL)
I have been teaching various subjects for almost 8 years now.
In those 8 years, 3 have been spent teaching EFL at a Senior High School in Japan in the JET Programme.
I was also teaching to a Global Science course in my High School, so I taught the basics of academic writing in English.
I am fluent in French (though I doubt that's relevant in any way)

I am also considering obtaining a TEFL certifcate, but have no idea if this will actually help me or not.

Am I losing my time trying to get into Universities? I don't really have any contact except for one, which I would find very weird to exploit since it's the parent of one of my student…

Any opinions or tips?

EDIT 2: Thank you for all the answers. I've read everything and I will take it into account for the future. It is really appreciated.
