20 Days in September

Hi all, looking for a spot check on our itinerary. Context – it's our honeymoon!

Land in Osaka

Day 1- 3: Venture around Osaka; food tours; castle; pokemon centre; potential day trip to Nara/Himeji Castle?; just generally finding our way around!

Day 4-6: Kyoto
Staying in Gion area; meeting friends here. tea ceremony; Imperial Palace; Sake tasting; Bamboo forest; Fushimi Inari Taisha

Day 7: Hiroshima
By the time we get down here, walk around, see the dome and museums.
Send our bags ahead to Kanazawa.

Day 8: Miyajima
Day bags only. Morning in Hiroshima; Afternoon ferry; stay in Iwaso for traditional experience

Day 9-10: Kanazawa
Potential stop in Himejo Castle if not already seen; Ninja Temple; Samurai Residence; wander Higashichaya; Kenroku-en gardens

Day 11-12: Takayama / Matsumoto/ Nagano?
Hiya beef and sake tasting
Would like to see the snow monkeys
A bit of nature / hiking to balance the urban visits!

Day 13 – 14: Hakone
Stay in a Ryokan with view of Fuji (Tbd)
Onsens; open air museum; relax; hiking?

Day 15 – 19: Tokyo (staying Asakusa)
Soak up the city; Sumo tournament; vampire cafe; shinjuku bar hopping tour; sumo stable visit; Nikko day trip; Akihabara; shibuyu scramble crossing; etc.

Day 20: fly home from Tokyo

Please tear apart where you see fit.

I reckon we're doing too much moving between day 11 and 14. I would love for us to get some hiking in over these days, but Fuji will be closed when we arrive to Hakone.
Are Matsumoto / Takayama / Nagano similar enough that we should just pick one and prioritise the snow monkeys?

Hakone is on the bucket list for the obvious reason of Mt. Fuji, but realistically that are the chances we'll see her – should we just prioritise Matsumoto / Takayama / Nagano?
