I apologize if this has been posted already.
I've been to Okinawa more times than I'm willing to admit, and been to both to Tokashiki and Zamami but only for a day trip and never really explored the town or anything else other than the beach. This time we wanted to do something different and stay a couple nights on the island.
Currently I'm leaning towards staying at Aharen since the town area is right next to the beach, while on Zamami island, the town area (by the port) is a good 15-20min walk to one of the either beaches. Also the town area by Aharen looks more developed. Is this true? Of course we don't need anything fancy, just few options of izakaya or bar for a few drinks.
Those who have stayed over night on the islands, what are some things to do after dark? Is it safe (allowed?) to hang out at the beach at night?
I'd appreciate any comments, tips or your experience staying on the islands! 🙂
