Divorce/custody- US wife (me) & Japanese husband

Most of the divorce/custody posts I’ve seen are foreign husbands divorcing Japanese wives. When it comes to custody I know the courts favor the Japanese parent, but I know they also favor the mother, especially if they’re the main caregiver. Anyone who is or who knows a foreigner woman with kids who divorced the Japanese husband, what happened with custody?

We’re not to the breaking point yet but my husband always prioritizes himself over me & our son and I’m exhausted. Our son is still a toddler but I’m not sure I want another 20 years of this. So I just want to have an idea of what custody would look like if we did divorce.

  1. You should try to get professional advice, but afaik the priority is on the primary caregiver and the person the child is most attached to. Could be wrong.
