Kanji vs. Katagana characters

I noticed recently when I was watching some NJPW matches that, when it has the wrestlers' names listed, Okada always had his name written in Katagana like the foreigners, whereas every other Japanese wrestler has it in Kanji. I don't speak Japanese, but I found this interesting, is there a reason for this?
