I’m a Chinese student in my 3rd year of a 4 year degree near Tokyo. I was charged last year for assaulting a coworker at my part time job and had to write an apology letter and pay damages. I now have a criminal record. I was also taken to the police station this year but not charged for a similar incident.
I want to stay in Japan after the end of my degree and I’m on a student visa. Is it possible for me to change to a work visa if I have a job offer or will immigration know about what I did and refuse me? Has anyone had a similar experience? I’m very worried because I don’t want to go back to China.
