I want to read Japanese text on my iphone with an easy way to translate, Is there a good app or a way to use something similar to yomicha on IOS?

Basically the title, since I spend a lot of time on my iPhone i’d like to use it to read but it’s difficult with no direct way for translation, i tried the JP-EN dictionary provided in IOS but it’s not good, I also tried Easy Japanese app but the content is too boring to me tbh

I want to read random articles, amazon reviews, tweets, youtube comment… etc with an easy way for translation, or an app where I can import stuff to and it provides me with good translation

For now, my only way is to use auto translation option and extract the words meaning from it

I’ll be grateful for any help

  1. I was looking. I was gonna suggest the Kiwi Browser but it looks like that’s Android only. I see on IOS Chrome you can enable chrome extensions and maybe add Yomichan on there. Then through settings I know you can turn of the “hold shift” part of it and make to where you can just press the word and it’ll show definitions.

I hope that helps some. I’d test it before commenting, but I don’t have an iphone anymore. Android makes it easy with Kiwi Browser and I just Yomichan mine everything like on PC.

For the phone in particular, I gotta increase the text size through the accessibility settings to what I call “old people” sized text so I can accurately hit them with my fingers and translate. That way all Japanese sites are fair game. One I use for my random internet reading is Quora. Pretty basic questions and answers, and just kind of pass through time reading on that.

  2. I personally think the ‘Nihongo’ app (green/blue Icon) is the app you are looking for to help you read/learn native Japanese content. It’s like yomichan for iOS. However it’s reading features are not free. Still I highly recommend it.
