In December my girlfriend and I plan on going to Japan, and this would be our itinerary.
Day 1 – Osaka

Day 3 – Himeji
Osaka-Himeji Shinkansen (1h)
Himeji Castle and Gardens
Day 4 – Hiroshima
Himeji-Hiroshima Shinkansen (1h20, early)
Peace Memorial Park and Peace Memorial Museum, Miyajima (around 4h transport both ways)
Day 5 – Koyasan
Hiroshima – Koyasan (4h)
Small hike, okuno-in, cemetery, Kongobuji, Temple Lodging
Day 6 – Kyoto
Morning in Koya in case something was missed
Koyasan – Kyoto (3h30), Gion, Ninenzaka, Sannenzaka
Day 7 – Nara
Kyoto-Nara (40min), Deer Park, Todaiji Temple, Horuji Temple, Kasuga Taisha
Nara-Kyoto (40min)
Day 8 – Kyoto
Kiyomizu Dera (1h transport), Fushimi Inari Taisha (30min), Kinkaku-ji (1h transport)
Day 9 – Arashiyama/Kyoto
Boat to Arashiyama
Bamboo Groves, Monkey Park, Otagi Nenbutsuji Temple
Back to Kyoto, Philosophers Walk
Day 10 – Fujikawaguchiko
Kyoto – Fujikawaguchiko (5h)
Kawaguchi lake, Oshino Hakai, Yamanaka lake
Day 11 – Fujikawaguchiko
Narusawa Ice Cave, Aokigahara Forest, Lake Motosu
Day 12 – Hakone
Fujikawaguchiko – Hakone (3h)
Onsens, Pirate Boat Cruise, Ryokan Lodging
Day 13 – Tokyo (Sumida and Asakusa)
Senso-ji Temple, Sumida Hokusai Museum, Tokyo Skytree
(Fukugawa Edo Museum if time)
Day 14 – Shibuya, Harakuju
Shibuya Crossing, Meiji Jingu Shrine, Yoyogi Park, Harajuku, TeamLabs Borderless
Day 15 – Mitaka
Studio Ghibli Museum, Inokashira Park, Shinjuku (evening/night)
Day 16 – Central Tokyo/Akihabara
Imperial Palace Gardens, Akihabara, Kaiseki Dinner
Day 17 – Ueno/Yanaka
Tokyo National Museum, Ueno Park, Yanaka

Does it seem too packed? Any other suggestions of places we have to visit while there?
Another option would be to go from Kyoto-Kanazawa and from there to Jigokudanai, instead of going to Fuji. Any help would be (really) appreciated!!
