Hello, we live in Sapporo and up until now have lived in peace with the resident suzumebachi. Things have changed the last week or so and I'm needing some advice.
Essentially we have a large garden which requires a lot of maintenance, I also have a toddler who I look after and therefore is out in the garden with me.
About a week ago one of these monstrous creatures has been accosting us while gardening. We can garden for maybe 30 minutes in peace until it begins buzzing right next to our heads and faces. And it doesn't leave! It will fly off for one minute and then come right back. It really seems like it's scoping us out. As a result I usually end up heading back inside which is a real pain when I have so much work to do outside.
So these are my questions:
Does anyone have insight into this wasp's behaviour? Is it aggressive? Or just curious?
I've looked around for a nest but haven't been able to find one yet. Any tips for where they build them?
How do I deal with this guy? Our council suggests pesticides, but if you spray and miss will it get angry and attack?
Thank you in advance!
