I will be doing a fair bit of travelling while in Japan (Shibuya > Kanazawa > Kyoto > Osaka > Kawaguchiko > Shinjuku). I thought that I understood how to navigate public transportation (i.e., IC card for nearly everything except shinkansen) until I learned about limited express trains requiring two types of tickets. Are there any other types of trains/buses that have a more complicated ticketing process? I searched my routes in google and found words like rapid-express, semi-express, and local. I'm not sure if those terms add any complexity. For example, here are some of the trains I will be taking.
Keihan Main Line Rapid-Express (Kyoto to Osaka),
Sakaisuji Line Semi-Express (Kyoto to Osaka),
Fujikyuko Line Local Otsuki (Kawaguchiko to Tokyo),
Chuo Line Local Tokyo (Kawaguchiko to Tokyo)
Also, is there an easy way to see whether a specific train/bus takes IC cards using google maps?
