Are letters of rec required for most first time/entry level teaching positions?

Hi, Im currently applying to job as a recent grad and I would like to know if letters of rec are a requirement I should expect when applying to jobs? I won't be applying to JET which I know requires a rec however I haven't seen any other job posting as for a letter of req so I'm wondering if that is something I may be asked to provide during/after the interview process?
