  1. Wow this is quite surprising because I would say 80 percent of the garbage I pick up off the beaches is Chinese and quite a bit of Korean as well. I don’t find much Japanese everyday goods in comparison so perhaps a majority of the fishing garbage is from Japanese fishing boats. I would like to read more about identifying the fishing related garbage if anyone has a link.

  2. I wonder how much of it was due to the Tsunami? Hopefully countries including Japan can work together to clean this stuff up.

  3. I think they could do with naming and shaming some of these fishing boats. Seems like they think once they’re out at sea the rules no longer apply.
