Currently planning out dates for a trip to Japan in 2025 (yes I know, far in advance, but want to use air miles to book the flights so have to book them a year in advance).
Plan is to go for 3 weeks, but unsure whether to go from the 18/10 – 09/11 or 25/10 – 16/11
As part of my planned itinerary the former would mean going to Takayama and Kamikochi around the 27-30th Oct, whereas the latter would mean being there a week later on the 3-6th Nov.
Will be starting in Tokyo, then travelling to a couple of rural areas in the mountains, and then going south to Kyoto, Osaka and Hiroshima. Ideally would like to be in the rural areas during the autumn colours, but would be nice to be there for Kyoto too (which I know is later).
The other rural areas we'll be going to (Eiheiji and Takayama) seem to have autumn colours at their peak in early Nov, but will that be too late for Kamikochi. And would even that earlier week be too late?
