The “gambling for kids” is quite a ugly sight

I'm talking about game-center where kids are incentivized to "play" at those machines where you just keep inserting coins to push more coins and gain more.

By Incentivized I mean:

  • Either they "earn" free coins from nearby shops/amenities which they have to use at the coin game.

  • Gambling machines just for kids to use these coins without spending money, so they can mimic the behavior of the addicted adults nearby.

  • Gambling machines with lower cost coin (e.g. 10 yen per coin instead 100), so middle age schooler can fill their buckets with coins by spending a small amount of real money.

All of this not for fun but just to get them addicted to gambling.

I understand gambling and pachinko is a huge business for Japan, but at least those are close environments only for adults. Teaching and incentivizing kids to gamble is a very ugly sight.

Any experience yourself? and do you know if anything is being done in terms of regulations/laws?
