Help! Where can I get treated for a UTI?

I think I might have a UTI. So I’ve tried getting appointments in ladies clinic but they don’t have availability until like next week or next month. I want to get this treated ASAP. Do I just walk into a hospital? Hopefully I can get by with google translate. Any advice would be helpful, I’ve never been to a hospital in japan and my Japanese isn’t great.

Edit: thanks everyone, I got an appointment at a clinic near me for Monday, I’ll make do with google translate. For now i’ll just drink tons of water.

  1. My girlfriend just said the below might work.

This medicine seems to be available without a prescription. It’s probably not cheap (OTC drugs in Japan never are).

    Alternatively, apparently

Lady Guard Kowa is also quite popular.

Of course I’m not a doctor. I would recommend going to your local drug store/pharmacy and just saying you have UTI.

If you’re struggling with describing it, you can say stuff like-

“oshikko ga hen ni narimashita” (it feels weird when I pee)

“tabun UTI desu” (maybe it’s UTI)

“clinic no yoyaku wa dekinakatta” (I couldn’t get an appointment at the clinic)

(The above Japanese is not 100% grammatically perfect/correct or in proper sentences but it should be enough for you to say easily and get the message across).

In my experience, drugstore and pharmacy staff have been always super kind and helpful. I’m sure if you go in and try your very best to explain, they will try their very best to help you and give you what you need. You’ll probably end up paying more than what you would have at he clinic but the goal is to mitigate your symptoms *now* so I’d say it’s well worth it.

    Best of luck!

  2. I believe any urologist would do. there are probably several in your area and you can find one to squeeze you in. say you suspect infection.

  3. When I have a UTI I walk into any 内科 clinic, explain my symptoms and they’re do a urinalysis or just give me the five day antibiotics.
