Most accessible way to see Mount Fuji?

Hi all, we’re travelling to Japan soon and are looking forward to it. One thing I’d really like to see is Mount Fuji. I have seen tips to sit on the right side of the Shinkansen on the way from Tokyo to Kyoto, which we intend to do, but I was wondering if there is an easy way to stop somewhere and see the mountain a bit closer?

From what I have read online, the best place to view is from the north side, which is quite difficult to get to. Is there somewhere that we can get off the Shinkansen and spend an hour or two to get experience Mount Fuji?
