We're a couple on an three week vacation to Japan in October-November.
We will be reliant on public transportation for all of the trip with no plans of renting a car unless there is a must see location that requires a rental.
We're done with Hiroshima on October 24th evening and have a couple of days to spare before we get to Kyoto on October 27th evening.
We were contemplating Beppu and perhaps a Ryokan stay with a private onsen (partner isn't too keen on a public onsen).
Do folks opt for a one night stay at a Ryokan for the experience and move to a typical hotel for the second night. Obviously, Ryokans are quite a bit more expensive in comparison to a hotel so this does factor into our decision making.
Alternatively, perhaps two days in the Fukuoka area but I'm unsure abut what to see/how to spend time there or if it's worth a visit.
Or any other region in that vicinity that is worth a visit.
Any thoughts or pointers are most welcome!
Thanks in advance!
