Train Cancellation?

Currently stuck on the hokuto express from Hakodate to sapporo due to flooding. What's the likelihood they resume service? I'm from the UK and it's more than likely they'd kick everyone off and cancel the train so just hoping I don't get kicked off in the middle of Hokkaido.

Anyone have any experience?

  1. I live in Australia and they were reporting on predicted flooding in Japan yesterday for today . Pretty serious rains coming your way

  2. Stay on the train and wait for further announcements. If they cannot resume service, they should bring you to the nearest station and provide further details there. Usually they will bring you (somehow) to your destination station. If the situation is serious, it might take quite a while.

  3. Just stay on the train and wait. If the trains can’t operate (due to flooding) they will advise you with other options to reach your destination. This happened to me when the shinkansen couldn’t travel from Osaka to Tokyo last month. It is a stressful situation but don’t let it ruin your holiday.

  4. Hokuto 22? Looks like it resumed service?

JR actually have a burden to take you to your final destination somehow. They won’t let you out in the middle of nowhere. At worst, you are going to be stuck in the train for the night.
