[Spoiler] The Winners and Losers of G1 Climax: A Block

—– BIGGEST WINNERS—–

Great-O-Khan (HE FUCKING DID IT, LADS) 5-4 – Despite the fact there was a certain British bloke topping the tables, I think O-Khan deserves the top spot in the consideration of whose stock was raised the most this tournament. It was a brutal start for O-Khan, but he went on an absolute tear during the second half of the season, securing his spot in the playoffs by defeating IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, Tetsuya Naito, in an epic climax.

Zack Sabre Jr. (Can't Wait For Him To Choke Yet Again) 7-2 – In the second place of my rankings, it's the guy who's actually first. Yes, despite him being my favourite wrestler in the world, and despite him scoring 14 points, it's second for ZSJ. I, unfortunately, believe that he's getting knocked out in the playoffs – but hell, there's no way you can't call him a winner in this G1.

—– MILD WINNERS —–

Shingo Takagi (Dragon Daddy) 5-4 – With a solid 10 points, Shingo secures second place with a win over O-Khan, but that means little – he still has to face the Eliminator once again. Still, I feel like even though Shingo is a much more likely competitor to make the semi-finals, that's exactly why his stock has been raised less – O-Khan simply had more to gain.

Gabe Kidd (HE'S STILL A BLUMMIN' MADMAN YA NO?) 4-5 – Gabe was arguably the biggest star of A Block, due to the fact that even though he had a losing record he kinda… murdered the piss out of everyone. A final win over Callum Newman and post-match tantrum kinda only secured the mentality of just how crazy this bastard is.

Callum Newman (Actually Showed Up And Showed Out – Sorry, Taichi) 2-7 – Yes, despite falling at the bottom of the table, Callum impressed the fuck out of me this tournament. With an incredible win over Shingo, his early elimination only proved that sometimes it's not about quantity, but quality of wins.

Jake Lee (Great-O-Bastard) 4-5 – Jake Lee felt like he was in an awkward spot this tournament, as he seemingly only got better and better with each match. Eliminated in the final match by Shingo, perhaps better things await the Smart Bastard.

—– EH? ABOUT THE SAME. —–

SANADA (Still The Most Boring Cunt Imaginable – and I Can Say That, Because I'm English) 4-5 – Eating an L to ZSJ, SANADA was eliminated from the tournament, and frankly, I'm not too sad about it. The match against ZSJ was actually his best of the entire tournament, and it still ended with a rather flat Michinoku Driver conversion.

EVIL (EVIL.) 5-4 – EVIL.

—– THE UNFORTUNATE ONES —–

Tetsuya Naito (Seriously Needs Some Rey Mysterio-ass Knee Surgery) 5-4 – With three spots out of ten competitors available, you'd have expected the World Heavyweight Champion's chances would be better than ever – but Naito fell at the final hurdle to the unlikely upset of O-Khan. Naito hasn't looked great this tournament, seemingly injured to fuck, and now he has four possible title defences before Wrestle Kingdom, his title reign looks to be in jeopardy.

Shota Umino (I Don't Think Mox Is Proud Anymore, Jesus Christ) 4-5 – What a fucking bollocks-up. Shota's attempt to work through his injury has not gone well and he's looked like a right twat in his efforts. He's thankfully killed EVIL's hopes of making the finals, at least, but it's a tournament to forget for the Roughneck. Maybe next year?
