Hello,
Sorry for the throwaway.
Context: signed an offer letter for a contract in-house position. Am not in Japan right now so the company is handling the working visa and other details of the move.
I have a three-year degree *equivalent* plus 10+ years of experience in the field I'm being hired for. Upon receiving a photo of my diploma, the firm handling the visa application said that it might not be enough so I sent them 10 years worth of invoices and like 1 contractor agreement as documentation (I've only ever worked as a freelancer so that's all I have – that and a bunch of NDAs). They thanked me, said they'd check everything out, and I haven't heard from them for more than a week.
In your experience, can the hiring company retract a written and signed offer letter if they think I'm not worth a hassle they didn't expect having? Has it happened to someone that Immigration denied them the COE because they thought the applicant didn't have enough qualifications despite having a signed offer letter and the company itself being the handler and sponsor?
Thanks in advance.
