Moving back to Japan after a 4 month break in my home country

I am not sure if this is the right sub to ask but anyway here’s a brief history about me before I get to the main stuff. I have been living in Japan since 2017, I finished my Masters degree in 2019 and PhD. degree in 2022.

From 2017 to 2022 I was on a student visa and then since 2022 I am on a researchers visa that ends in May 2025. However my job as a researcher from 2022 exhausted me mentally and I decided not to extend my contract that ended in March this year and returned to my home country in April to re-think over my future.

I am now considering about moving back to Japan but I don’t want to go into research again. A few of my friends suggested that I think, decide and then apply for jobs.

Now I have a few questions –

  1. What other options are out there for me with PhD if I don't want to go into research/post Doc?

  2. People often say that I need to decide what I want to do but HOW do I decide what job to do? I am so confused.

  3. How difficult is it to apply from overseas?

  4. I have heard of people who return once to their home country but immediately return to Japan with a new job. How do they do that?

  5. While applying what address should I put in my Japanese 履歴書? Do I put my current address in my home country and mention in the comments section that I have a valid visa up-to 2025/05 and can travel to Japan if they want to hire immediately?

Edit – Forgot to mention that I have also cleared JLPT N3.
