Just wanna let you know, very very few countries have birthright citizenship based on residency.
No, you need a Japanese parent to get citizenship from birth.

But you do get to enjoy the benefits of FATCA.
No, only Canada and United States have birthright laws when it comes to developed countries. Japan only recognizes your parent’s nationality. Now, if you had a Japanese citizen parent, you would get Japanese citizenship, but just being born in Japan, so nope.
