Quick (and maybe stupid) question, Google translator o try to talk in Japanese?

Hi!

I know it maybe sounds weird question, but I have been writing on my book some basic questions and conversation in Japanese, since I don't want to travel to another country and go directly to speak English.

Said that, I was questioning, and in your experience, is it better to go directly to show to the other person the Google translate (showing your conversation translated directly from English) or maybe go directly to speak something in Japanese (like, how are you, is this the trains to…). In this second option, the only bad point I can see is I don't get the response or they consider stupid the move.

Sorry for the "weird" question 😂

P.S: also, if you can recommend any expression useful or similar, really appreciate.
