Hi all, I am trying to use the JR East South Pass 6 days in early Nov to see autumn leaves. Will be mixing it with a combination of rental car for certain hard to reach areas. Do you think these are feasible? And is it possible to book all tix at Aomori station? Any tips appreciated, thank you.
Day 1: Fly into Tokyo NRT at 0840, collect JR East South Pass. Take NEX to Tokyo Station and Shinkansen to Aomori or Hirosaki
Day 2 – 3: Pick up rental car and explore Hirosaki Castle, Nakano Momijiyama, Jogakura bridge, Mt Hakkoda ropeway, Tsutanuma Marsh, Oirase; overnight at Aomori or Hirosaki.
Day 4: Resort Shirakami to Juniko, overnight at Koganezaki Onsen
Day 5: Train to Akita, pick up rental car to go to Kakunodate, Dakigaeri Valley, Lake Tazawa and overnight at Ichinoseki (is this too ambitious?)
Day 6: Train to Genbeiki gorge and back to Ichinoseki then train back to Tokyo
