The Beauty of Okinawa and its Surrounding Islands: Ie Shima

There isn’t a single day where I don’t think about Okinawa. Please take a look at some of the memoirs I collected from Ie Shima. Descriptions below:

Pic 1: Ie Shima, the mountain

Pic 2: The island Mascot Tachun, and me expressing my love for him.

Pic 3: A small clay container and yen found at the top of Ie Shima.

Pic 4: Group of young children I met while hiking Ie Shima. Started following me after they said something about “amerikajin” and I responded in my elementary Japanese.

Pic 5: Hibiscus flower garden 🌺

Pic 6: Mom and pop shop restaurant menu.

Pic 7: Food from said restaurant.

Pic 8: Pink lemonade hibiscus.

Pic 9: Pawn shop that helped the island’s economy recover, but was damaged in the battle of Okinawa.

Pic 10: Mass suicide ground where Japanese soldiers gave locals shape charges to commit mass suicide. I believe the pottery is what was once an intact pot that held skeletal remains of the locals that died here, but was damaged due to weather.
