This is a fairly last-minute trip happening in a month or so, but this will be our first time in Japan and I would love any feedback. It seems pretty cramped to me so far, but a lot of the shopping and whatnot is obviously very flexible.
Day 1 — Arrive at Narita around 10 AM, have lunch and check into hotel. Walk through some of Shinjuku Gyoen Garden, Meiji Temple, and visit the mini pig cafe. Take a walking tour of Shibuya and do some shopping.
Day 2 — Morning tour of the Imperial Palace, lunch at Tsukiji, then walk through Zojoji. Go to teamLab Borderless, do more shopping in Ginza.
Day 3 — Head to Hakone first thing in the morning, and do the ropeway and Owakudani before lunch. Then visit the Open-Air Museum, check into ryokan, and maybe stroll through the grass fields and botanical gardens. Rest of the evening is for the onsen!
Day 4 — Take the pirate cruise and visit Hakone Shrine. Do a little shopping by the Hakone-Yumoto station, then head back to Tokyo in time to catch Shibuya Sky around sunset. Walk by Sensoji after sunset.
Day 5 — DisneySea! (please give me tips or info if you have any)
Day 6 — Maybe visit the Small Worlds Museum if time allows (I love miniatures), do last-minute shopping and have lunch. Leave Tokyo Station by 1:30 PM to make 5 PM flight from Narita.
I also have a couple of questions:
- Any restaurant recommendations, or should we just go with the flow in the moment?
- As I mentioned, any tips for visiting DisneySea? I'm aware this will be kind of peak season…
- Do you have any "must-sees" that are missing from this itinerary?
