Just planned and booked my 3rd trip to Japan 🙂 This time I want to see Okinawa as well as the Yamagata area. I don't have as many days as last year (24 days last year) but this itinerary covers a lot I want to see and do. There are 2 travel days when I'm in Tokyo, but I consider those part of the experience (Shinkansen and flight+ferry).
Having been in Tokyo already for a total of 13 days, I'm not planning anything concrete to do there. Its going to be relaxed, walking around, explore some new areas and do eating and shopping.
Curious if you guys have any pointers 🙂 Already booked the hotels/hostels and rental cars for Okinawa and Yamagata. Is there anything I need to take of regarding the rentals? (international drivers license is taken care of). Also looking for a good store to buy a chef's knife and fishing supplies.

- Flight leaves Amsterdam at 20:15

- Arrival at 20:00 Narita
- Take train/subway to hostel in Asakusa. Expected arrival 23:00.
- Sleep
07-10 Tokyo
- Asakusa area, breakfast, photography
- Shiba Park and Tokyo Tower, lunch
- Akihabara evening
- Dinner at Izakaya

09-10 Travel day
- Flight to Okinawa at 11:00. Arrival 14:20.
- Take ferry to Zamami
- Check in guesthouse

- Take early morning ferry back to Okinawa main.
- Pick up rental car
- Drive to Nago

- Drive from Nago to north part of main island
- Cape Hedo
- Daisekirinzan
- Yanbaru Park

13-10 Okinawa Main Island
- Nago Aquarium in the morning
- Tropical Dream Center if I have time
- Drive to Naha
- Check in hotel (close to airport) and explore area. (ANY TIPS?)

- Japanese Underground HQ
- Drop car off at the end of the day
15-10 Long travel day!
- Early flight (10:00) to Tokyo
- Arrive at 14:30 in Tokyo Haneda
- Take shinkansen to Yamagata. Expected arrival 18:00.
- Check in at hotel Daiwa Roynet near station
- Dinner at Yonezawa Beef Tokiwa
16-10 My birthday
- Pick up rental car at 10:00.
- Drive to Yamadera and explore.
- After lunch drive to Ginzan Onsen.
- Relax and explore until sundown.
- Drive back to Yamagata, late night dinner (ramen)
17-10 Hiking
- Drive to Dewasazan Area for hiking (to be determined)
- If I have time check out Zao Onsen
- Izakaya
18-10 Back to Tokyo
- Drop off car before 10am
- Take shinkansen back to Tokyo.
- Check in to hostel near Ueno. Expected arrival 14:00.
- Yoyogi Park & Meiji Shrine
- Dinner in Shibuya
19-10 Day trip from Tokyo
- Visit friend who lives in Yokohama
- Day trip to Kamakura. She's gonna show me around and dinner at her house
20-10 Tokyo
- Friend comes to Tokyo
- To be determined that to do. Probably walk around a lot, see some parks and do some photography
