I am struggling to choose a base for my trip to Japan next month (first time). I have barrowed it down ti either Kanda station or Ikebukuro station (east side, right next to Sunchine City), as I have found great affordable hotel options in both of these.
I need help deciding between the two. I really like the vibe in Kanda, the more laid-back local atmosphere, but I am worried there is not much to do in the area, especially indoor stuff if I will have the missfortune of encoutering rainy days or even a taiphoon during my stay.
Ikebukuro seems really nice too with the neon Shinjuku vibes but I am not sure if it gets too crowded/touristy or too overwhelming.
I plan to visit more areas in Tokyo so both locations are equally convenient.
