Rental with Working holiday visa

Hi, guys

Let me give you some information,

I plan to move with my girlfriend to Japan in October 2025 with a working holiday visa. I currently work as a software engineer for 7 years. My goal is to find a job in IT in Tokyo.

I'm looking for some informations about rental. I conclude for my situation with one year visa, foreigner and at the beginning without employment, my best chance is to rent through ur apartment. I can pay the rent for one year and avoid the unemployment problem. I can afford a rent between 2m or 3m for the whole year. I think a 2ldk, 2dk or 3ldk, 3dk should be ok. We want to live near Tokyo to enjoy our first year.

For the first months, we are looking for a full furnished rental. Airbnb seems very expansive for the quality. I checked a lot of short term rental website but if you can recommend me one you have used. My budget it's between 200 or 300k yen.

Is there anyone who succeed to rent an ur apartment with a whv ?

Is there anyone who succeed to change from whv to work permit ? I'm french and apparently i have to go back to France, if i want to apply for a work permit. But i have read for some people, they didn't have to go back to their country.

I also plan to ship some stuff from Montreal to Tokyo, maybe some boxes, small table, my bed. My main concern is i don't know when i'll find an apartment. I know some moving company can hold my stuff for few months of course if i pay for it. Do you have use moving company ? How much did it cost you ?

Is my plan viable ?

Feel free to ask me more questions about my project if something is not clear.

Thx for your answer.
