I know M-1グランプリ is deemed as a national festival, but one would imagine such a 老若男女-wide culture wouldn’t be considered much “hip” like 鬼滅 or ヒロアカ are. Or is it? Do Japanese people tend to relate more with anime or owarai when the latter is relatively hardly known of Japan in the outside world? Does it tend to vary vastly depending on young, middle & senior?
