preparation to read 十二国記

currentyl i am reading ゼロの使い魔 (just finished the first volium) and thought it wasnt to difficult. The next series i want to tackle ist ロードス島戦記. can you recommend any novels which could be beneficial for my vocabulary before is start 十二国記?

  1. I didn’t read it, but I listened to voice dramas and watched the anime. There’s definitely a lot of archaic Japanese that you’d see in 時代劇, and words about war/politics. But I think the most difficult part was that it’s a work based on chinese mythology, which means there are a LOT of loanwords and weird readings.
