All the lovely trees in the public parks and on the sidewalks in my neighborhood were pruned almost down to their bare branches at the beginning of July, which removed the nice shade they used to provide. Some of them have even died since . Why is this happening? I thought pruning was supposed to be done in autumn. And before you ask: no disease whatsoever, other trees are doing just fine, including mine. Just thought someone might now why because it makes no sense to us (we called the city office but didn't get any hint either).
