So I live in Greenville and have been studying Japanese for a few years. I’m still extremely terrible lol Anyways I was wondering if people had a success with making Japanese friends online? I’ve tried Langmate was wondering if there’s any other apps or forums I should check out.

I haven’t used it in awhile but when I did I had pretty good success with Hellotalk.
i made alot of friends from japanese just by playing game on playstation and singing on smule apps i learn japanese from anime cant read hiragana or katakata but nantonaku wakaru lol when we chating i just reply using romaji or google translate 😂🤣
There’s a ton of Greenvilles in the USA, but for a lark I checked out your post history to find out it’s the SC version. Oddly enough, I left there many years ago (my parents still live there) and now live in Japan, and have for quite a while. I can’t answer your question directly (about online friends), but there is a Japanese grocery store at the corner of Pelham and HWY 14 that used to be staffed by Japanese old ladies, and occasionally their children, and when I’d shop there I’d sometimes chat them up a bit while browsing. This was over 10 years ago, but when I visited my parents earlier this year it was still there… though I didn’t go in, nor do I know if it’s still family run, but it might be worth a shot.

I made a Japanese friend online years ago and we met up with her when traveling to Japan. It was fun. They like practicing English on us.
I’m not a social person… But, I’m Japanese, by the way.
