Requirements for the HSP path to PR

Hi all. I have been living in Japan for 5 years, and I am starting to think about my long-term future here. After reading about the HSP points system, I have a question that I hope isn't as silly as I think it might be. My background: I am currently working here on a 3-year instructor visa. Without giving away too much info, I work in an international school as a teacher in the STEM area.

My general understanding is: someone working here on a non-HSP visa can use the HSP route if they can show that they satisfy 80 points for the past 1 year, or 70 points for the past 3 years. Based on my particulars, I believe that I meet the 70 points threshold for more than the past 3 years. This is the case for both the "Advanced Academic Research Activities" and "Advanced Specialized/Technical Activities" streams.

So, my question: if I have enough points, does my profession matter? Obviously the HSP program is not really intended for people like me, but I just wonder whether the points are all that matter. Is there any value in me investigating this more through an immigration lawyer or by myself, or would I be wasting my time?

Thanks, and apologies for the not very finance-related question (this just seemed the best place to ask).

Edit: Thanks for the responses, I will definitely look into it and probably contact a lawyer for some initial advice.
